In the world of boxing, constant opinions cause some athletes to go through episodes of sadness, fear, confusion, happiness.
For example, a boxer who suffered a knockout in a fight is subjected to constant opinions about his performance in the ring, These opinions can cause anxiety and a reflection about: Is it time to stop fighting? What if I better dedicate myself to something else? and many more.
Emotions arise because of an event and will have a great influence on behaviors, causing the athlete to lose control and focus on their sports career and there are possible changes in motivation, self-esteem, confidence and security.
However, if we manage opinions positively and analyze our situation, we can see opinion as something external that we cannot control but that we can react in the best way and here I tell you key points:
1. Work on personal validation: I’m feeling this and it’s okay, it wasn’t my best moment, but I’ll come back stronger for my next fight.
2. Stay with what really matters to you: You can write down the points that you want to work on and improve, for example: Improve defense, comply with your eating plan, be more disciplined with my training schedules.
3. If you seek the opinion of others, make sure you first want to listen to them, look for people who can contribute points with constructive and realistic criticism, people who speak to you from love and people who, from experience, add key points to enhance your strengths.
Managing positively, living in the here and now will make your goals more achievable, and keep you in a healthy state of mind in a calm environment for you and your work team. Always remembering that a defeat is not the end of your career, even the best have suffered defeats and today they are legends
