WBC Cares Mexico-Christiane Manzur

The present year started as a normal one.

The first event in Mexico as WBC Cares, was a toy drive organized by Carlos Molina to celebrate Dia de Reyes which is a national tradition. The last, another toy drive hosted by Chiquita Gonzalez as Santa Clause.

The Jose Sulaiman race took place, as it has for the last 6 , in Chapultepec , where more than 4000 people ran for a cause.

WBC CARES has been active in México even though  Pandemic has made visits imposible to take place, other actions have been implemented in order to keep the activity going on.

WBC Workout as well as WBC talks  were  both initiatives  which kept all of those who love boxing around the world “connected” .  With  different and diverse  topics,  people felt close to our  sport even with no fights taking place at all.

One of our highlights as WBC Cares  was the virtual talk with “La Chispa”, an organization which is in charge of helping young people  find their  way through a second opportunity after being  in a reformatory.  Abner Mares, Irma “La torbellino García”and Daniel Zaragoza were the  champions in charge of the motivational speeches. Based on their own life experience they gave examples of how a life can be positively changed through boxing.

Dr Joe Dispenza conducted his first series of seminars for the Juvenile Penal System with great success.

Heroes for Humanity was another action with a  huge impact.  Mexico’s number of nominees were  large and diverse .

During Pandemic, the distribution of health care products and  food has been a frequent and constant activity in our country.

Mexico is very proud to have hosted the first virtual WBC Convention . Though every member of the WBC would have loved to gather and spend time together, the actual conditions did not  allow us that privilege in 2020.   But as always and looking for what was  best for everyone,  WBC Convention was held in our country in such an unusual but  successful way.

Being part of WBC Cares has taught me how great giving and caring can be.

At the end of one of the most difficult years that humanity has witnessed, I have learned that empathy is the key for facing adversity. Caring for others and giving the best that we have makes the difference. I feel grateful because I belong to a group of people who not only give at the worst or terrible times .

WBC Cares is  present and is always  trying to make this world a better place for everyone . I feel very satisfied at being part of an organization which truly cares despite age , sex, social condition or race . We are a role model because we understand what compassion is.

We don’t know what the future will bring but we know that we will keep helping and caring.
