FIGHT OF THE YEAR
O’Shaquie Foster VS Eduardo Hernández
The WBC super featherweight champion successfully defended his title in a memorable fight, which he snatched out of the fire with a supreme final round surge. Despite being behind on two scorecards, Foster fought hard to knock out the hard hitting Mexican mandatory challenger Eduardo “Rocky” Hernandez, who was ahead on points, before walking into a twelfth round maelstrom.
Devin Haney vs. Vasily Lomachenko
Haney defeated the Ukrainian idol Loma by unanimous decision in an extremely close and thrillingly competitive fight. With this victory Devin successfully defended his undisputed lightweight crown for the second time.
David Benavidez VS Demetrius Andrade
The “Mexican Monster” closed a great year by defeating Andrade via a brilliant performance. The fight only reached the 6th round due to Benavidez’s impressive and overwhelming performance.
Luis Nery VS Azat Hovhannisyan
“Pantera” Nery had to work hard to defeat the tough Armenian. After a close fight, the Mexican impressively persevered to stop Azat in the 11th round.
Julio César Martínez VS Ronal Batista
The WBC flyweight champion stopped the tough Panamanian challenger by TKO in the 11th round in what was a power-to-power battle.
Arthur Beterbiev VS Anthony Yarde
The undefeated light heavyweight champion, who has a 100% KO ratio, dug deep to take the victory. Yarde was spirited and posed plenty of problems. However, the champion’s sheer punching power surfaced with chopping waves enabling him to sweep to victory via KO.

Cameron defeated the legendary Taylor in Ireland. Katie`s first defeat. The fight was intense, hard fought and an absolute to and fro classic.

Taylor avenged her only defeat by defeating Cameron, also taking away her undisputed super lightweight crown. We now await the trilogy decider.
Amanda Serrano VS Erika Cruz
A veritable war involving Puerto Rico vs Mexico. Serrano had to work hard to defeat Cruz, who never stopped moving forward.
Marlene Esparza VS Gabriela Alaniz
The WBC flyweight champion took Alaniz’s undefeated record to successfully defend her WBC crown. Despite incessant pressure from Alaniz, Esparza took the victory by majority decision
Seniesa Estrada VS Leonela Yudica
An intense fight from start to finish. Seniesa Estrada remained firm in her goal of the undisputed straw championship defeating Yudica by UD.
Jessica Nery Plata VS Kim Clavel
The Mexican traveled to Canada to brilliantly snatch the WBC light fly crown from Clavel with a fabulous and decisive unanimous decision.
FIGHTER OF THE YEAR
Terence Crawford
Undefeated with 40 victories including 31 KO’s, former lightweight champion, former undisputed super lightweight champion, and current undisputed welterweight champion. Bud Crawford defeated the then undefeated Errol Spence Jr. via TKO in the ninth to achieve supreme glory at 147 pounds.
Naoya Inoue
Undefeated, former light flyweight champion, former super flyweight champion, former undisputed bantamweight champion, current undisputed super bantamweight champion. This 2023 he defeated the previously unbeaten Stephen Fulton to win the WBC crown and became the undisputed 122-pound champion by defeating Marlon “Nightmare” Tapales. A dream come true!
David Benavidez
The “Mexican Monster” had a tremendous year by defeating two great rivals. The first, Caleb Plant via UD and the second Demetrius Andrade, who was hitherto undefeated.
Saul Alvarez
“Canelo” remained very active in 2023 with two memorable fights. The first against John Ryder in his long-awaited return home and the second defeating Jermell Charlo in an overwhelming way. He masterfully conserved the undisputed super middleweight championship.
Kenshiro Teraji
He has become one of the most consistent champions in recent times. After suffering his only defeat in 2021, the Japanese maestro returned to the elite of the sport and in 2023 he defeated Anthony Olascuaga by TKO and then Hekkie Budler also via TKO.
Devin Haney
Devin had a busy year. In May he defended his undisputed lightweight crown by defeating Ukrainian legend Lomachenko in a fight involving and employing brilliant strategy. She started 2023, surprising the world by defeating the previously unbeaten Katie Taylor on the road, away from home, with a more than brilliant performance. She then lost her undisputed super lightweight title in a rematch against Taylor in a barnstorming competitive fight from start to finish.
Katie Taylor
The Irish Emerald perfectly embodies the word “redemption.” After having been defeated by Chantelle at the beginning of 2023, determined and undeterred, she regrouped, and astutely modified her strategy to avenge her only defeat, to become undisputed champion in two divisions, light and super light. Not to be taken lightly!
Dina Thorslund
The fighter from Denmark accelerated her pace in 2023 with the mission of becoming undisputed champion in the bantamweight division. She defeated Debora Anahi López in February and took the WBC title from Mexican sensation Yuliahn Luna with an emphatic UD.
Seniesa Estrada
Super Bad Estrada was pretty good and is sitting pretty! She had two important victories in 2023. In March she captured the WBC Straw crown defeating the previously unbeaten Tina Rupprecht with a wide UD. In July she defeated the warrior Leonela Yudica in what was an action-packed hand to hand combat.
Yesica Nery Plata
The Mexican fighter firmly established herself as light flyweight champion. She first traveled to Canada to take the WBC crown from Kim Clavel. Then again on her travels, this time to Germany to face then-undefeated challenger Sarah Borman, also defeating her, with technical, aggressive and efficiently effective boxing.
Skye Nicolson
The fighter from Down Under, has quickly fought her way to the top. She fought three excellent fights in 2023; In the first she defeated Linda Lecca on points. She then conquered the interim WBC featherweight crown defeating Sabrina Pérez. To close out the year, she defended her crown by taming Lucy Wildheart in the ninth round.

Brian Mendoza KO Sebastian Fundora
A bolt of the blue surprise for many; American Brian Mendoza unleashed a lightning blitz, to sent Sebastian to the canvas in the seventh round in April, crowning himself interim super welterweight champion.
Naoya Inoue KO Stephen Fulton
The hard hitting Japanese idol defeated Stephen Fulton in the eighth round, in a fight that was held at the Ariake Arena in Tokyo, Japan, making Naoya the second Japanese four division champion. Inoue recently defended his crown with another forceful KO of Marlon Tapales.
Kenshiro Teraji KO Anthony Olascuaga
It was in the ninth round when Teraji sent his rival to the canvas on April 8; However, that was not his finishing touch performance of the year as the light flyweight champion, because in September he repeated the prescribed dose, this time with the South African Hekkie Budler.

Shadasia Green KO Elin Cederroos

Yunoka Furukawa KO Wassana Kamdee
Yunoka was crowned international strawweight champion by defeating the Thai at 1:18 seconds of the fourth round.
PERFORMANCE OF THE YEAR
“Bud” Terence Crawford surprised the world with his performance against Errol Spence Jr. The predictions were split, since in both corners we had two undefeated welterweight champions; However, Terence dominated from start to finish, using a powerful jab, brilliant waist movement and everything he had to knock out Spence Jr. in the ninth.

PERFORMANCE OF THE YEAR
Claressa Shields showed why she is considered one of the best pound-for-pound fighters right now, defeating the warrior Maricela Cornejo in brilliant fashion. She won practically every round of said battle, we saw the very best of her repertoire and in that way she successfully defended her undisputed 160-pound crown.
Savannah Marshall had just been defeated by Shields in an epic fight in 2022; However, she decided to move up a division and directly challenge the undisputed 168-pound champion Franchon Crews-Dezurn. Savannah delivered a brilliant performance and snatched the crown from her.
Yesica Nery Plata
The Mexican fighter established herself as light flyweight champion. She traveled to Canada to take the WBC crown from Kim Clavel. Her performance was impressive and earned her a unanimous decision.
Dina Thorslund maintained control from start to finish over champion Yuliahn Luna. The Mexican came to the fight as a latent threat due to her power of fists; However, Thorslund did not stop attacking, moving and throwing blows from all angles to win an unrelenting and impressive victory.

Carlos Adames VS Julian Williams – a middleweight clash in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Absolute thriller.
Nonito Donaire VS Alexandro Santiago – a legend against a contender who emerged triumphant. A fantastic brawl in which Santiago got the best out of it.
Badou Jack VS Ilunga Makabu – Both WBC champions once, Jack was coming back from a period of inactivity and Makabu wanted to prove himself the champion. Jack won displaying power in the final moments.
Sebastian Fundora VS Brian Mendoza – Fundora was brawling like he usually does and held the upper hand. But then…Mendoza, who never backed down, backed it up with a crunching KO.
Dramatic Fight
Asley Gonzalez VS Lourdez Juarez – Super Flyweight title on the line, Gonzalez and Juarez left it all in the ring. Gonzalez takes the belt in an exciting Split Decision.
Fabiana Bytyqi VS Elizabeth Lopez Corso – The Czech champion wanted to shine in her home country but Elizabeth Corso had different plans and made the champion suffer to retain her Atomweight title making victory all the sweeter.
Yamileth Mercado VS Kudakwashe Chiwandire – Chiwandire went to the den of the Lioness in Chihuahua to try and take Mercado’s belt in what resulted an amazing fight. Mercado won and a rematch would be beautiful.
Gabriela Sanchez VS Angela Nolasco – an outstanding war for the Flyweight Silver Title in which Sanchez won by Majority Decision.
Jessica McCaskill VS Sandy Ryan – We just need to see the rematch. The fight ended in a Split Draw but what a fight it was!
Delfine Persoon VS Bo Mi Re Shin – A classic fight between a seasoned fighter and against a boxer who’s about to reach the top. Persoon didn’t disappoint in a very complex fight.
Event of The Year
Spence VS Crawford – The Best VS The Best, Undefeated VS Undefeated; Crawford Vs. Spence was a great fight and a huge event. Arguably the fight that fans wanted to see the most in recent boxing history. They weren`t disappointed!
Katie Taylor VS Chantelle Cameron II – Taylor and Cameron have now given us two of the most exciting wars. The battleground was great, the crowd made it even better and history happened.
Tyson Fury VS Francis Ngannou – While this fight was not a championship one, the event reminded us of boxing’s greatness in a mixed sphere of distinction. Very much like “Rocky”, Ngannou won the respect and hearts of the boxing community. And Fury did what he has always done. He got up and dug deep to win a close encounter.
Saul Alvarez VS John Ryder – It hasn`t been since Julio Cesar Chavez, that Mexico has enjoyed and savored big time “Stadium Boxing.” Canelo Alvarez VS John Ryder was a great and prodigal event in Jalisco, Guadalajara that made history for the Mexican nation. We`re on our way home!
Naoya Inoue VS Stephen Fulton – The Best VS The Best, Undefeated VS Undefeated; Inoue Vs. Fulton brought the focus to Japan and showed us the wonderful hospitality that the country expresses to the people who visit. As a fight, Inoue gave Japan nothing but joy and success.
Day of Reckoning – Joshua, Parker, Wilder, Wallin and 12 more boxers of the highest category facing each other in a single card is rare to see nowadays and the show gave us knockouts, upsets, thrills and spills plus fresh hope for boxing to return to everyone fighting everyone in an all-around entertaining card.
