New Jersey fighter Vito Mielnicki Jr, WBC Youth super welterweight champion, paid an emotional tribute to his grandfather Wiliam E. Mielnicki, who recently passed away, leaving his championship belt at Grandpa’s grave.
William was a foundation in the life and career of our young champion, since he always encouraged and supported him in each of his fights, right the way through from the amateur to the professional sphere.
The WBC, upon learning of this situation, replaced the Youth belt and gave it to him last weekend in Las Vegas. Vito fought on the Canelo vs. undercard. Munguía card at the T-Mobile Arena, defeating Ronald Cruz in a great performance to win the WBC US title.
The WBC mourns the death of Mr. William and reiterates to Vito its support and the great pride in having a champion who is embued with great values.
