Mexican Vinny Castilla and the Venezuelan star of the Houston Astros, José Altuve, received the World Boxing Council champion belt within the framework of the Major League series in Mexico City.
Mauricio Sulaimán recognized the great work that Vinicio Castilla did as a baseball player; while Leonor Colón, Senior Director of National and International Player Operations of the Major League Baseball Players Association, and Salvador Quirarte presented the belt to Altuve.
For Mauricio Sulaimán, President of the WBC, it is an honor that Castilla and Altuve have this recognition in their hands.
“Baseball is the king of sports and boxing is the champion of sports. It is a fact that baseball players and boxers share a lot in their training to reach the top. Vinny Castilla is one of the greatest Mexicans to play and Altuve is one of the greats, who has shown that anything is possible on the playing field. Both of them are now honorary ambassadors of the World Boxing Council.
