During our 56th annual Convention in Kyiv in 2018, the WBC understood, appreciated and marveled that Ukraine is a country of robust hard-working people, with a thirst for success fueled and inspired by the fortitude of pride.
We applaud its extensive boxing tradition and cheer its ongoing, surging potential to generate great fighters with breaking waves of new world champions.
For this reason, in 2021 the WBC opened a representative office in Kyiv with the firm intention of creating a space with opportunities that will focus upon promoting the development of professional and amateur boxing in the region. Today, despite all the blows that this country has experienced due to the winds of war, Ukraine confirms its position as a power in sport, being represented by elite fighters and world champions with great activity.
Serhii Bohachuk
He has an impressive record of 24 fights won with 23 KO’s and 1 loss. Bohachuk has just defeated Brian “La Bala” Mendoza with a convincing performance on March 30 at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, to win the interim WBC super welterweight belt.
Vasyl Lomachenko

He comes from facing Devin Haney in one of the best fights of 2023. On May 12 he will face former monarch George Kambosos with the firm intention of resuming his position as a rival to beat at 135 pounds and becoming world champion again.
Oleksandr Usyk
Considered by many to be one of the best pounds for pound today. He became undisputed champion in the cruiserweight division defeating Marco Huck, Mairis Briedis and Murat Gassiev. After defending his crown by defeating Tony Bellew, he decided to move up to the heavyweight division and after a couple of years and interesting fights, he became champion by defeating Anthony Joshua. Today, he finds himself on the cusp of one of the most anticipated fights in the history of the sport, as the winner of the Fury vs. Usyk clash on May 18 will yield the first undisputed heavyweight champion in modern history. Fight to be held in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia in celebration of the Riyadh Season.
Oleksandr Gvozdyk
Gvozdyk is back in the top plans of professional boxing. The former world champion at 175 pounds achieved 3 important victories in 2023 and is now preparing to star in one of the most spectacular duels of 2024 when he faces the unbeaten David Benavidez for the WBC interim light heavyweight title.
