On the 10Th February 2024 Juan Manuel Albornoz, the former 2022 WBC South America Amateur Champion arrived in Osaka, Japan to join the Tomoki Kameda training camp as a primary sparring partner. Tomoki Kameda, a former two- time world champion will be fighting on the 31st March 2024 in Japan.
This unique opportunity for the newly turned professional who will be travelling out of South America for the first time was brough about by a meeting of attendees at the 2023 WBC Convention held in Tashkent, Uzbekistan.
Tatsuru Yoshikawa of the TMK Gym in Osaka Japan, Brad Norman from WBC Cares South Africa and Marcos Arienti from WBC Argentina, together with Gustavo Zacarias from La Plata, Argentina met and discussed various opportunities and initiatives that would help young fighters from their respective counties further their careers and gain international experience.
These discussions and the relationship established at the convention paved the way for this young fighter to travel to Japan, to experience world class training and at the same learn and experience the Japanese culture and way of life.
The TKM team has welcomed Juan into their gym and hosted the fighter at their home. TMK also recently extended his camp having been impressed with his work ethic and training as well as his friendly and warm character.
