The WBC mourns the passing of Actor Carl Weathers

Carl Weathers, the actor best known for his role as Apollo Creed in the “Rocky” film franchise, has died at age 76.

Weathers was a perfect fit for the role of flashy and cocky world champion Creed opposite Sylvester Stallone’s scrappy underdog Rocky Balboa. Carl would appear in several other installments of the Rocky franchise before his character was killed off in Rocky IV by Ivan Drago.

Following his involvement in the Rocky films, Weathers had several other big roles in film and television, including Predator, Happy Gilmore, Toy Story 4 and The Mandalorian.

The entire World Boxing Council Family and its President Mauricio Sulaimán send our deepest condolences to the many friends and the family of Carl.
