On May 17 in Chetumal, Quintana Roo, Mexico, former world champion Yesenia Gómez faced Cecilia Niño, in a fight that resulted in a controversial draw, since the action was clearly dominated by Cecilia.

In an act of honorability and justice, the Boxing, Wrestling and Professional Martial Arts Commission of Cancún, Quintana Roo, revoked the draw issued, granting Cecilia Niño the victory.
After a thorough review of the fight, the Commission found that human errors had been made in the evaluation of the fight, which led to the mistake in the final score.
