At a packed press conference, Dr. Daniel Aceves, President of the Mexican Olympic Association, the President of the Mexican Olympic Committee, Mr. Carlos Padilla Becerra, as well as the President of the WBC, Mr. Mauricio Sulaiman, met to plan the activities towards the celebrations of the 6th April towards the International Day of Sport for Development and Peace.
The aim Is giving an opportunity to celebrate the power of sport to promote social change, community development, to encourage equity and inclusion and to promote peace and understanding among people, communities and nations.
World Boxing Council President Mauricio Sulaiman explained that for the WBC, boxing is the main tool to bring a message of peace to all corners of the world, as well as a motivation for children and young people to follow their dreams and remove them away from addictions and violence, bringing them closer to a different way of life that allows them to develop in an integral way.
He thanked all those who have joined this great movement. He urged all sports and educational entities, national and international Olympic committees, federations and athletes to be part of the 2019 #whitecard campaign that promotes the positive and constructive values of sport and that reaches millions of people through the networks.
Javier Salinas, President of the Mexican Baseball League explained that this upcoming April 4, 5 and 6 the disciplines that have activity, such as baseball, basketball, wrestling, boxing, soccer and golf will impact more than 35 million people by holding a #WhiteCard, which represents the positive power of sport, symbolizing a gesture of inclusion, equity and peace.
The #WhiteCard is recognized as the symbol used to celebrate the International Day of Sport for Development and Peace on April 6 from 2013.
The President of the Mexican Olympic Committee, Carlos Padilla Becerra, was emphatic in saying that sport is the best ally of health, development, the union between societies.
The social change, to encourage equity and inclusion and to promote peace and understanding among people, communities and nations, for this reason the importance of uniting and making known the power of sport.
He explained that sports are a tool to promote values such as peace, fraternity, solidarity, tolerance, teamwork and justice and that is why it is everyone’s responsibility to spread this message and be part of this movement.
