The WBC South Africa office announced the WARRIOR ASCENT program.
It’s an initiative based on the extremely successful boxing development program introduced by the WBC in Mexico together with RING TELMEX-TELCEL fifteen years ago, which has produced more than twenty world champions.
It was in 2008 when the RING TELMEX-TELCEL program was launched, through the initiative of the TELMEX FOUNDATION, when Mr. Carlos Slim met with his dear friend, the Life President of the World Boxing Council, Don José Sulaimán and together They designed a program aimed at supporting young boxers with a monthly scholarship so that they could dedicate themselves exclusively to boxing and not have to worry about the basic expenses that usually required them to take on additional work to their training regimen.
Bright prospect Saúl “Canelo” Álvarez, has since developed and blossomed into one of the most outstanding world champions, as well as Óscar Valdez, Francisco Vargas, Carlos “Príncipe” Cuadras, Juan Francisco Estrada and Adrián “Confesor” Hernández.
To date, the RING TELMEX-TELCEL program has had more than 20 world champions, including Anabel Ortíz, Adrián Hernández, Carlos Cuadras, Francisco Vargas, Gilberto Ramírez, Guadalupe Martinez, Ibeth Zamora, Jaime Munguia, Juan Francisco Estrada, Julio Ceja, Lourdes Juárez, Mariana Juárez, Miguel Berchelt, Óscar Valdez, Pedro Guevara, Rey Vargas, Saúl Alvarez, Yesenia Gomez and Zulina Muñoz.
The WARRIOR ASCENT program is also based on financial, technical and intellectual support for talented young amateur and professional boxers with the aim of ensuring that fighters can fully concentrate on their boxing career and achieving their aspirational goal of becoming world champions.
This initiative is dedicated and focused on nurturing, developing and ultimately producing world champions both in the sport of boxing and champions in life.
This requires identifying new talent, constantly observing and monitoring the boxer, grading progress, finding the best training and management resources and providing boxers with the opportunity to receive financial and other support, as long as these young athletes are an example. worthy in daily life.
