At the beginning of a new year, we saturate our minds with goals, desires, wishes, dreams, objectives, and a huge list of “things to accomplish,” but then there’s a moment in which we take a break to reflect and think about what we have achieved is brief.
We think little about taking care of our mental health and we ignore the importance to to make changes or some adjustments that will help cultivate emotional well-being.
Practice reflection and gratitude: Recognize the small and large achievements that have led us to what we are today, for example: Not missing any training session, going to work even if you don’t feel like it, improving eating habits, among others.
Set realistic goals: It is important to keep goals achievable as this reduces unnecessary anxiety and pressure. Although having ambitious goals is natural, setting realistic objectives contributes to good mental health, for example: Exercising 3 times a week, maintaining a sleep routine, among others.
Practice self-care: This year it is you first, so dedicate time to activities that generate joy, laughter, tranquility and well-being. Connect with others, as social connection allows you to share experiences and emotions; Remember that self-care is also allowing yourself to feel.
The beginning of the year is a wonderful thing, because it opens doors to new beginnings and great opportunities. It is important that each of us become aware of self-care and how essential it is to take care of our mental health by making small, big changes to maintain an emotionally balanced year.
Remember that a lot is said about material goals, and little is said about emotional goals. “May 2024 be a year where your emotional well-being reaches undisputed priority.”
