The longest reigning champion, Gary Russell Jr had a pressing engagement with mandatory contender, Mark Magsayo during the final press conference prior to their fight this Saturday night in Atlantic City.
Gary Russell Jr is defending the WBC featherweight crown he conquered in 2015, for the 6th time. While his mandatory undefeated contender, aims to become the latest Filipino superstar.
During the final meeting Gary Rusell jr. was questioned about how “Father Time” has affected him, stating that despite having not fought he has never taken a cat nap from the gym.
“Boxing is just something that I do. It is a lifestyle. There is no sign of ring rust.
“My message is always the same. I will display my superiority inside the ring. I believe in intellect over athleticism.”
He praised Mark for willing to step in the ring and put it all on the line.
Mark Magsayo had nothing but admiration for the champ. He claimed to be happy for being WBC´s featherweight mandatory and that he is ready to be champion and give Rusell his second defeat as pro.
“People say I don’t have skills to match his but Filipinos are born strong. We are warriors.”
