Road To Inoue vs Nery: Japan vs Mexico

The undisputed super bantamweight champion, Naoya “Monster” Inoue, will defend his belts against Luis “Pantera” Nery, former world bantamweight and super bantamweight champion, on Monday, May 6 at the Tokyo Dome in Japan.

 The fight is organized by Top Rank Promotions, Teiken Promotions and Ohashi Promotions, and will be televised by ESPN for the United States and Latin America and will arrive through AMAZON for Japan.

Although both have been respectful so far, there is an inherent rivalry in this long-awaited fight; Here are some details:

Naoya Inoue has defeated two Mexican fighters in his professional career: Adrian Hernández (WBC light flyweight) and David Carmona (super flyweight defense)

 Luis Nery has achieved two victories fighting in Japan: both against the legend Shinsuke Yamanaka. In the first fight he took the WBC bantamweight belt from him, in the second he did not make the established weight and lost his crown during the weigh-in.

The last WBC Japan vs Mexico title fight was Nakatani vs Santiago. In that fight, Nakatani took the crown from Santiago.
