The undisputed heavyweight showdown between World Boxing Council Champion Tyson Fury and WBO/IBF/WBA Champion Oleksandr Usyk is edging closer towards Saturday, May 18, at Kingdom Arena in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
Fury-Usyk is the most significant heavyweight battle of the millennium, as the winner will become the division’s first undisputed champion since Lennox Lewis claimed the throne in 1999.
Fury (34-0-1, 24 KOs) returns following last October’s decision over former UFC king Francis Ngannou in Riyadh. He conquered the WBC Heavyweight Championship in 2020 by overcoming one of the greatest HW Punchers of all time “Bronze Bomber” Deontay Wilder.
Usyk (21-0, 14 KOs), an Olympic gold medalist from Ukraine, hopes to become the second man, following Evander Holyfield, to achieve undisputed status at both cruiserweight and heavyweight.
As a special recognition and salute to this historic match, the third undisputed match, the winner will have the opportunity to take home a magnificent undisputed commemorative belt.
For this special occasion, the WBC is presenting a promo on one of the largest screens in the world: “The WTC Mexico City Building”.
The World Trade Center in Mexico City is one of the most emblematic and towering skyscrapers in the city. This iconic building can be seen for 10 kilometers in all directions, including from air by flights arriving in Mexico City. The screen encompasses an area of 5000 square meters and the broadcast of this outstanding promo will continue during the days leading up to Saturday night.
