Remembering the Great Diego Corrales

“Chico” passed on May 7, 2007 in a motorcycle accident in Las Vegas, Nevada. 

Recognized by all boxing fans as a courageous world champion in two divisions and remembered for his great fights. 

Diego  had a big punch and an even bigger heart, is remembered for recovering from two brutal knockdowns in the tenth round to knock out Mexican Jose Luis Castillo in one of the wildest fights in boxing history; which coincidentally took place on May 7th also, but in 2005.

Born in Sacramento, California, but was a Las Vegas resident. He won his first 33 fights and faced great rivals such as Floyd Mayweather Jr., Joel Casamayor, Joshua Clottey, Acelino Freitas, among others.
