Pedro Guevara received his cherished WBC super-flyweight Interim Green and Gold Belt from Mauricio Sulaiman and Eulogio Guerra, the former Rector of UAS Sinaloa, at Martes A Cafe, in Sport and Chips, Mexico City
Pedro who is the pride of Mazatlan, won a fantastic SD victory, against Andrew Moloney, at the RAC Arena, in Perth, Australia on March 12. His devoted, savvy and dedicated Trainer Jose Sanchez, was presented with the WBC Trainer’s Belt.
Pedro won the WBC light-flyweight title in 2014, knocking out Akira Yaegashi in round seven. He’s worked, persisted and fought on to become a champion, almost ten years on and is promising much more to come. He beamed as he said: ”It’s a great feeling. This is the second time I’m here to receive a Green and Gold Belt. It’s a marvelous feeling to be with great friends.
”Both of my Green and Gold Belt victories were great moments for me. In Japan, it was the first time I felt that supreme feeling. I never expected that would feel this joy again, but we won in Australia!”
Pedro is thrilled that Rey Martinez is coming up to the super-flyweight division and would relish a fight with him commenting: ”I don’t have any problem with that. If that fight comes, then I’m ready to go all out.” Pedro is also happy to give Andrew Moloney a rematch and go back to Australia, where he was given a wonderful greeting and a memorable time.
WBC super-flyweight champion Juan Fransisco ”Gallo” Estrada is defending his title against Jesse ”Bam” Rodriguez on June 29th at the Footprint Center in Phoenix, Arizona and Pedro is keenly interested in this. He stressed: ”I’m with the Mexican Estrada, because he has a big heart, he’s an intelligent fighter and he has great experience. Bam is a younger guy. He surprised against Cuadras and Sor Rungvisai. And then the fight against Sunny Edwards was a tremendous bout. If they don’t move up a division after their fight I would be happy to fight either, because these are the big fights I want.
”I want to be an Absolute WBC Champion again and I have the key to achieve this. Much more is to come. I want more!”
