In a boxer’s dressing room: Psychological aspects that a fighter goes through are complex.
In fights of all type, Championship matches or not, fighters go through a series of emotions to which they are subjected due to pre-competitive stress and that better emotional management will allow them to go out to the ring in a better way but above all, their performance above in the ring, considering that there are situations that can get out of control and that they must be resolved at the moment.
So, it is interesting to know some points regarding this matter:
Anxiety: Boxers can feel and think about winning, losing, the public outside, their sponsors, the family and loved ones who are supporting them, this can cause confusing and threatening thoughts, which is why it is necessary to work on coping strategies.
Stress: Some athletes submit to self-demands that lead them to stop enjoying what a fight means. Although high demand raises our potential, it is important to clarify that poorly focused self-demands which can lead to emotional breakdown and unnecessary pressure.
Nervousness and excitement: Every fight, every round, every punch after the “daily routine” and long path that fighters have to go through towards a fight is the reason why many of them and many boxing fans call it “The best sport of everyone and of all time”, despite the great sacrifices, the great lessons from the ring, translates into the satisfaction of personal improvement and sporting achievement, preparation after preparation.
