The former middleweight world champion, Savannah Marshall, became the new unified super middleweight champion by defeating American Franchon Crews-Dezurn via majority decision, topping the bill of a card organized by Boxxer at the Manchester Arena in England.

Crews-Dezurn came into this bout as the undisputed 168-pound champion. However, she was outpointed by Marshall, who prevailed on two scorecards 99-92 and 97-93, while a third Judge saw it as a  95-95 draw.

Both fighters arrived having lost only to three-division champion and two-time Olympic gold medalist Claressa Shields. Marshall was defeated by Shields in October of last year, while Crews-Dezurn was bested by her in her pro debut in November 2016.

Early on, Franchon started the fight by landing power shots, but after some adjustments, Marshall neutralized the onslaught.

With the win, Savannah not only regained her champion status, but she also became the undisputed champion nine months after losing to Claressa Shields.

With this result, Marshall improvesher record to 13-1, with 10 knockouts, while Crews-Dezurn is now 8-2, with 2 knockouts.
