WBC and WBA Champion Marlen Esparza, will stake her world titles when she faces the WBO flyweight champion, Argentine Gabriela Alaniz, in a unification duel on Saturday, July 8, at the AT&T Center, from San Antonio, Texas.
In this bout, Esparza plans to take another step toward her dream of becoming the first undisputed flyweight world champion.
After losing her undefeated match against Seniesa Estrada in November 2019, Esparza has a six-fight win streak in a row, one of which compares to the Mexican Ibeth Zamora in June 2021, in winning the WBC flyweight title.
In April 2022, Esparza defeated Naoko Fujioka to win the WBA crown. This Saturday, she will face Alaniz, to try to win another world title.
Esparza has a 13-1 record, with 1 knockout. Alaniz, has a record of 14 wins and knows no defeat.
This Friday both warriors passed the official weigh-in. Marlen Esparza registered 111.5 pounds, while Gabriela Alaniz stopped the scale at 110.8 pounds.
The fight is organized by Golden Boy Promotions and will be televised on DAZN and ESPN Latin America.
