During a crowded “Coffee Tuesday”, Christian Cavazos along with boxing legends Erik “Terrible” Morales and Marco Antonio Barrera presented The Trilogy, a documentary series that will tell the behind-the-scenes and ring stories of one of the most memorable trilogies in boxing history.
For the director of the documentary: Christian Cavazos, who is a boxing fan thanks to his grandfather, he always dreamed of telling the story from all perspectives but also knowing the inside stories.
Excited to see a project that began as a talk almost a year and a half ago finally reach fruition , the producer said it’s been a delight to work with these two greats, meeting so many people and delving into all the nuances of the story that began almost 24 years ago.
He thanked everyone who has made it possible for this project to become reality and announced that the premiere is scheduled for this summer.
“The trilogy” will be presented in three chapters of 45 minutes each and even though the broadcasting platform, has yet to be decided, the protagonists assure that it will reach all homes.
They joked with their characteristic humor about this new project in which life once again places them on the same path, after the earlier collision course.
For Marco Antonio Barrera, being able to tell people what was happening behind the cameras or in the newspapers is what he found most interesting.
He added that for him, the fights with Erik are very special because in addition to the fact that they were in three different divisions (super bantamweight, featherweight and super featherweight) all of them were wars that are still present in the minds of the fans.
He joked that he and Erik were akin to a toxic marriage, but at the end of the day they are and will always be together.
Erik commented that until recently he saw this project as something very far away; However, and thanks to Christian’s dedication and passion, today he can say that “The Trilogy” is a reality.
He agreed with Marco that at that time the rivalry between the two grew even more thanks to the media because they always liked to give the extra touch to the matches.
Although the topic has been touched on several times, this documentary will have stories never before told, and especially, the perspective of various boxing figures who were part and parcel of it.
Both wisely ruled out an exhibition to promote this documentary because if there is one thing clear to them, it is that the combats they offered, deserve to be remembered for what they were: GREAT WARS.
