Frank Sánchez one of the best Cuban boxers pound for pound on history clashed with undefeated German Agit Kabayel, as part of the card headed by Oleksandr Usyk and Tyson Fury at the Kingdom Arena in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. The match was a WBC eliminatory.
Sánchez came to this fight after knocking out Junior Fa in the seventh round on December, while Kabayel (24-0, 16 KOs) surprised the world with a knockout victory in the fourth round over until then undefeated Arslanbek Makhmudov.
The battle started with each throwing cluster bombs,, both pointedly looking for the KO victory. During round one Sanchez landed powerful combos, but during the second round Kabayel took the control, impacting hard and often.
From the third, Kabayel started drilling the body. Although Sanchez tried to counterattack, it was evident that the Kabayel offensice was having the desired, draining effect.
The end came in round seven, when Kabayel sent Sanchez to the canvass with a clubbing short range rib bender. The Cuban fighter managed to get up however, he walked into a hailstorm which again upended him.
So and oh! Agit Kabayel improved his unbeaten record to 25-0 with 17 KO’s, conquered the WBC Heavyweight Continental Americas belt and won a WBC eliminator which places him ever closer to contesting the absolute crown.
