Charles Muniz, Ivana Habazin’s manager, won the rights to promote the WBC-mandatory welterweight title fight of his fighter against champion Jessica McCaskill.
The purse bid held by the WBC was won by Muniz’s company Piranha 1 LLC, which offered $201,000 to beat Matchroom Boxing ($91,000) as the only other bidder.
Ten percent of the winning bid ($20,100) will be held on escrow as a bonus to the winner. Of the remaining amount, McCaskill will win 70 percent, while the remaining 30 percent will go to mandatory challenger Habazin.
The date and location of the fight, which will mark McCaskill’s fourth title defense, has yet to be determined. It will be the champion’s first fight since her ten-round loss to undefeated Chantelle Cameron for her undisputed super lightweight championship on November 5 in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates.
Habazin, a 33-year-old former champion from Croatia, has won eight of her last 10 bouts, with the only two losses coming to Cecilia Braekhus and Claressa Shields.
