Jeff Powell presented MBE by Princess Anne

Doyen of Daily Mail Sports Jeff Powell, who was awarded Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE) for his sterling services to journalism via his Golden Pen, and now he has received this top distinction from Princess Anne at at Windsor Castle.

A brilliant instinctive and legendary journalist, Jeff has an unrivaled 57-year ongoing career at the Daily Mail. He has covered 13 World Cups and countless world title boxing fights. Eighty-one-year-old Jeff, who is still at the very top of his game and the zenith of his scribe powers, producing brilliant, exclusive stories and in depth features about soccer and boxing, started at the Walthamstow Guardian a week before his seventeenth birthday. He then went to work at Mail Sports, where he has built a fabulous career.
