Linked via zoom with Jaime Munguía, the Mexican 168lbs title challenger spoke with the specialized press during Coffee Tuesday.
He was illuminating and highlighting the most important challenge of his career, facing his compatriot Saúl “Canelo” Álvarez this coming May 4.
For Jaime, this opportunity does not come as something out of the blue but as a result of all the work and path that he has forged since he debuted as pro.
Inspired, the Mexican fighter assures that today he is going through the best moment of his career and that even with the pressure and attention he has on his shoulders, instead of making him nervous, it motivates him to give the best of himself.
Well, he knows that opportunities like this are the ones that test the physical and mental strength of an athlete to the outer limits.
“I am convinced that this fight has all the ingredients to become the BEST event of the year.
“Two Mexicans in Las Vegas, on a date of celebration for our homeland and both determined to go to war?
“ I know that this is my great opportunity and I assure you that I am doing the best training camp of my career, Saul is an extraordinary boxer, the face of boxing, an idol, but let’s not forget that above the ring we are two fighters in equal circumstances where No one is invincible. That night I will surprise you,” Munguia said.
Finally, Jaime explained that together with Freddie Roach they are defining the strategy to defeat Saul because although he is a very complete boxer with an extraordinary corner, his team focuses on those weak points that could lead him to victory to become the new champion at 168 pounds, this coming May 4 from the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.
