Only 14 days left before undisputed super bantamweight champion Naoya Inoue defends his crown against the Mexican challenger and former world champion, Luis Nery.
The fight will take place at the historic Tokyo Dome on May 6 and although both have been respectful there is an inherent rivalry to this long-awaited fight.
The World Boxing Council received both fighters’ 14-day weigh-ins, as part of the WBC’s Weight Monitoring program, which requires both the champion and challenger to weigh themselves several times leading up to the official weigh-in one day before the fight.
Fighters must weigh themselves at the time of signing the fight and subsequently, 30, 14 and 7 days before the fight. This is a prudent precautionary measure to control weight and avoid large weight losses in short periods of time, which would prove extremely dangerous.
We congratulate Naoya Inoue, Luis Nery, Ohashi Promotions, Teiken Promotions, Top Rank and Zanfer Promotions for their exemplary commitment to boxing, administration of anti-doping tests and weight controls.
