“Gallo” aims to preen WBC superfly championship against “Bam”

WBC Super Flyweight Champion Juan Francisco “Gallo” Estrada, will fight undefeated former champion Jesse “Bam” Rodríguez, topping the Bill on June 29, at the Footprint Center , in Phoenix, Arizona.

In a setting right next to the Phoenix Suns court, both fighters were face to face for the first time prior to their fight and this is what they said:

“I’ve been talking about this fight and my career with my promoter. We had other options for fights. Kazuto Ioka, the Japanese fighter, to go face each other and unify. But we really wanted to fight Bam because we think it’s a great fight.”

“He was also champion in the lower weight division, so I thought it would be a great test for us to get in there. Plus, it’s a great fight for the fans to enjoy.”

“It’s going to be a wonderful fight and the people who come here can expect that. I arrive with a winning mentality, wanting to defend my title and have even more important fights in the future. Don’t rule out this being a memorable fight and a wonderful spectacle. But what is also important is that we both leave this ring safe and sound.”

“I will fight any fighter. If they say his name, I’ll say yes right away. If it’s any other fight that isn’t challenging, then I’m not interested. From here on out, it’s going to be big fight after big fight. That’s what I’m here for, to give the fans the fights they want to see. They want entertaining fights and fireworks. You know that’s what I am and that’s what I’m here for. “I was probably about 13 or 14 when I first heard about Estrada.”
