World Boxing Council Judge Rey Danseco has won a fourth Judge of the year Award, which will be celebrated at the Annual Flash Elorde Awards Gala in Manila on March 25th.
Rey won this award in 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012 and he also won WBC Judge of the year in 2012. He describes this latest honor as: “A recognition of my roots in the Philippines, giving importance to my contribution to the Sport of Boxing. I always represent the World Boxing Council with pride. It`s my nineteenth year as a judge.”
It was a busy year for Rey, who judged twelve fights. The standout highlight bouts were between Tyson Fury and Derek Chisora, Isaac Cruz Vs Eduardo Ramirez, Ryan Garcia Vs Javier Fortuna, Joet Gonzalez Vs Jeo Santisima and Guillermo Rigondeaux Vs Vicent Astrolabio.
Rey says he hopes this is an encouragement to aspirants as: “We need more young men and women to be Judges. The key qualities are to keep on learning, to be professional, intelligent and impartial and honing skills at the highest level, because justice is our hands. That is why we must always be focused.”
Rey arrived back in the United States from one month of Holidays in Asia, just before his award was announced. He`s very much hoping he can go to Manila to receive the accolade from the hands of the Elorde family at their twenty-third annual Ceremony.
