In an exclusive interview with the WBC at its fifty ninth Convention Floyd Mayweather spoke about how his money is working for him via sky high construction and his transition to coaching tips.
WBC: tell us about your training of fighters
Floyd: I’m not really training fighters, I`m just giving them pointers to help them out, and to grow. With promotions we’ve got Mayweather Promotions PBC. When it was my time in the limelight I did what I had to do. Now I want to give back to the sport of boxing.
I`m here to uplift fighters help fighters and tell them you can do anything. You can be the best and break my record. Any one day it can happen. Nobody thought that after Joe Louis or Sugar Ray Robinson, that Muhammad Ali was going to come along. They didn’t think Mike Tyson was going to come, they didn’t think Sugar Ray Leonard, Oscar de la Hoya…and me. You never know what’s going to happen in the world of boxing.
WBC: Do you think it’s important that boxers keep the zero on their record?
Floyd: I don’t want to talk about other fighters. If I don’t have anything good to say I won’t say anything at all, because these fighters paved the way for me to be where I’m at. I’m truly blessed, so I take off my hat to all the fighters who opened up the doors for me to be where I am today.
WBC: Do you miss active boxing?
Floyd: No I`m ok. Floyd Mayweather made a lot of smart investments. One of the buildings I own is the tallest commercial building in America. So if you get a chance go to New York and check it out. This is my ninth sky scraper.
WBC: your father and uncles have helped you out.
Floyd: No one in boxing knows the sport like me concerning all the punches and feeling my way around the ring. That has been my whole life.
WBC: Is it instinct or worker both?
Floyd: It`s a little bit of everything. I always tell a fighter when he faces me you have to train. I’m going against you!”
