Super middleweight champions Franchón Crews-Dezurn and Elin Cederroos signed promotional deals with Eddie Hearn and Matchroom, so they will finally meet this spring.
WBC and WBO champion Crews-Dezurn (7-1 2 KOs) officially defends her titles for the first time, after her previous fight against Mexican Alejandra Jiménez was declared “No Contest.”
Crews-Dezurn won the WBC crown in just her fifth pro fight in August 2018, beating Maricela Cornejo and added the WBO belt by defeating Cornejo in a rematch.
IBF and WBA champion Cederroos (8-0 4 KOs), 36, made her United States debut against Alicia Napoleón-Espinosa in Atlantic City in January 2020, defeating the New Yorker to unify the IBF and WBA titles.
“No party without The Heavy Hitting Diva!” Crews-Dezurn said. “I’ve worked and earned everything I have, so if Elin or anyone else thinks they’re going to beat me, they’re totally wrong.
“I really don’t want to talk too much, I’m just going to take that action to the main event and get everything I deserve. It’s about legacy and survival, so I thank Eddie Hearn, Matchroom, DAZN, and Peter Kahn for making this happen. It’s my time to live up to my own expectations. ”
For her part, Cederroos commented: “I have been ready for this fight for a long time. I am grateful that Matchroom and DAZN have given us the opportunity to make the fight come true. It will be a prestigious fight for the world of boxing and a great step for women’s boxing.
“This is a great unification fight between two top fighters,” Eddie Hearn said. “I am delighted to welcome Franchon and Elin to the Matchroom team. One of them will have all the 168-pound belts in the spring and become a historic champion.”
The date and place of this long-awaited fight will be announced shortly.
