The World Boxing Council wishes to continue providing information related to the Clean Boxing Program.
On this occasion, we notify the status of missed tests due to not being able of collect samples.
The WBC has an agreement with VADA, which is the Voluntary Anti Doping Association, in charge of managing the collection of samples, the chain of custody and the analysis of samples in laboratories.
CASE 1
Sean Monaghan, ranked #11 by the WBC in the light heavyweight division, informed the VADA collector that he planned to retire, after his defeat on March 9 at the Turning Stone Resort & Casino in Verona against Callum Johnson. For that reason he refrained from taking the test.
At this point the WBC is waiting for a letter of confirmation from the team of Sean Monaghan to remove him from the rankings and officially give the news of his retirement.
CASE 2
The EBU lightweight champion, Francesco Patera, was not able to present the random VADA tests, since at that time he was out of his country and did not inform about his latest location as the program requires. However, upon receiving the failed test notification, he immediately reported to the Clean Boxing Program Committee his desire to fully cooperate accepting and updating his current location. So this mistake won’t happen again in the future. Francesco Patera reiterated his total willingness to comply with the protocol of the current program.
