The World Boxing Council light flyweight champion, Canadian Kim Clavel, will face the WBA champion, Mexican Jessica Nery Plata, in a unification battle this Friday, January 13, at Place Bell Laval in Quebec, Canada.
Kim, 31, won her WBC crown on July 29 in Montreal, defeating titleholder Yesenia Gomez, by a 10-round unanimous decision at the Casino de Montreal. She became the second woman and the eighth GYM Promotions World Champion. Clavel has a pristine record of 16-0, with 3 knockouts.
Jessica won her title by dethroning former Argentine champion Yesica Bobb, in March last year, in Panama. Nery Plata has a record of 28-2, with 3 knockouts.
Both fighters were face to face at the official weigh-in of the card, clearly showing that they are in excellent shape to ring the changes. Clavel registered 107.8 pounds, while Nery Plata was 104.2 pounds.
