#CaneloRyder Previous Five Rivals

With this weekend`s return of Saúl “Canelo” Álvarez to the ring, situated on Aztec turf, both he and John Ryder arrive in fine fettle to display their mettle.

Here and now we bring you the previous five rivals that Saúl Álvarez and John Ryder have encountered.

On May 8, 2021, “Canelo” faced the British Billy Joe Saunders in a fight where “Canelo” dominated Saunders from start to finish, winning the fight in round 8 after breaking Saunders’ orbital bone with a peach of a right uppercut.

On February 27, 2021, on his way to unify his belts, Saúl Álvarez got into the ring to face the Turkish Avni Yildirim, stopping him in three rounds.

For his part John Ryder fought against Zach Parker on November 26 defeating him in four rounds, earning his spot as the mandatory rival of “Canelo” via the WBO.

On February 12, he was up against the experienced Daniel Jacobs, achieving a split decision victory in the UK. It us worth mentioning that Jacobs is one of the rivals that Ryder and “Canelo” have in common.

On September 10 he fought Jozef Jurko, Ryder and was victorious via TKO in round 8.

On December 18, 2020, he faced Mike Guy in his second appearance on American soil. Ryder won the match via unanimous decision.

On December 23, 2019, he fought Callum Smith, losing by unanimous decision, and Smith is another rival he has in common with “Canelo”
