On Friday, July 29, 2022 in Ferizaj, Kosovo, Czech champion Fabiana Bytyqi (19-0-2, 5 KOs), defended her World Boxing Council Atom-weight title after a close draw against Mexican Elizabeth López Corzo ( 10-4-5, 1 KO).
The fight started with the champion using distance and waist movements well. As the rounds passed, the Mexican challenger shortened the distance landing hard punches to the body and head. In the final rounds Fabiana dug deep regained control to even the actions.
The judges’ scores were 96-96, 97-94 and 96-97.
The 26-year-old Czech boxer captured the WBC world title in September 2018, defeating British Denise Castle. In April 2019, she defended her title for the first time.
In November of the same year, she defended her title for the second time, defeating Mexican Ana Arrazola. Her fight against Corzo was her third defense.
Now, the WBC atomweight world champion, Fabiana Bytyqi (19-0-2, 5 KOs), will have the opportunity to defend her crown for the fourth time and again against Elizabeth Lopez Corzo (10-5-5, 1 KO) in a tiebreaker fight this coming April 15 in Brno, Czech Republic.
Corzo is a former FECOMBOX champion, and having shown great heart and bravery in the first fight, she is ready for an even brighter performance.
