Awards time at WBC Convention

During the Ratings meeting, several awards to deserving WBC evergreens and golds.

Mauro Betti chief of the WBC International Committee was presented with the Loyalty and Honor award by WBC Vice President Houcine Houichi.

No progress with Dillian Whyte`s efforts to fight heavyweight champion Tyson Fury because he`s taking legal action, and the case is in the Court of Arbitration.

Oleksandr Gvozdk who`s now retired is a successful businessman. He was presented his award Duane Ford. Adonis Stevenson is making a steady recovery from the injuries he suffered in their fight, wasn’t able to attend due to a passport glitch. Oleksandr wished him well.

Then it was the turn of Ilunga Makabu, the WBC cruiserweight champion, forty five years after the Rumble in the Jungle, bringing pride back to the Congo.

In receiving his award Ilunga gave thanks to the WBC, his Coach, the President of the Congo and to God.

Resplendent in a black WBC shirt Oscar Rivas received his statue and also lobbied for gallant and highly competitive Ryan Rozicki who moved up from cruiserweight at short notice to fight him for the new WBC Bridgerweight title.

Ryan has been moved up from fifteen to ten in the cruiserweight ranks by vote of the WBC Governors.
