The undisputed heavyweight showdown between World Boxing Council champion Tyson Fury and WBO/IBF/WBA champion Oleksandr Usyk will take place in a few hours at the Kingdom Arena in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
Fury-Usyk is the biggest heavyweight battle of the millennium, as the winner will become the first undisputed champion of the division since Lennox Lewis claimed the throne and that honor in 1999.
Fury (34-0-1, 24 KOs) returns to the ring after taking a decision last October against former UFC king Francis Ngannou in Riyadh. He captured the WBC Heavyweight Championship in 2020 by defeating one of the greatest punchers of all time, “Bronze Bomber,” Deontay Wilder.
Usyk (21-0, 14 KOs), an Olympic gold medalist from Ukraine, hopes to become the second man, after Evander Holyfield, to achieve undisputed status at both cruiserweight and heavyweight.
Pending this long-awaited clash, we remember the only in common rival that these titans have faced: Derek Chisora
FURY
WBC heavyweight champion Tyson Fury faced Derek Chisora three times.
The first in 2011 with the BBBofC and Commonwealth belts at stake. Fury took the fight via UD.
The second fight took place in November 2014, a year before facing Wladimir Klishcko. Chisora’s corner stopped the actions at the end of the10th round.
Fury defeated Derek Chisora for the third time via TKO in the 10th round at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London in 2022.
USYK
Oleksandr Usyk defeated Derek Chisora by unanimous decision on Saturday, October 31, 2020, in a closed venue due to the Coronavirus pandemic restrictions, in what was his second fight after vacating the undisputed cruiserweight championship and venturing into the heavyweight division.
Chisora was a difficult test for Usyk, who worked hard to win via scores of 117-112, 115-113 and 115-113.
