We`re just a few days away from celebrating our 59th annual Convention, which promises great surprises.
At the WBC, we are very excited to welcome the boxing family, because after not being able to meet at the 58th convention due to the pandemic, during this 2021 we will finally be able to greet you in person, continue working for boxing, but above all celebrate life.
The Presidente Intercontinental hotel located in the heart of Polanco, is our Convention Headquarters, but the opening ceremony will take place in the traditional and exquisite Restaurante Arroyo.
The venue, founded in 1940 by José Arroyo and María Aguirre de Arroyo, began as a small place serving excellent quality Mexican food, located in the center of Tlalpan; However, little by little it was gaining prestige, thanks to the flavor, service and love that the Arroyo family created, to place on each of its fabolous plates. A speciality is their famous barbacoa, so much so that there’s an interesting sign on the outskirts of the establishment that announces: “Here there’s José Arroyo’s barbacoa.
Barbacoa, escamoles, carnitas, huazontles, machitos, consomé among are the many delicacies andare some dishes which form part of the gastronomic legacy of Chucho Arroyo, son of the founders who, grew up to earn and succeed to the leadership of this iconic restaurant.
Today it is assuredly one of the emblematic most prestigious places of Mexican gastronomy, but also the complex contains the Plaza de Toros Arroyo, in honor of the Guanajuato matador Antonio Velázquez. Mario Moreno “Cantinflas”, was in charge of inaugurating the Plaza.
The Arroyo restaurant, will host the opening ceremony that will take place on November 15, with great surprises in store for us, that will distinguish this event as memorable, full of color and folklore in the most marvelous Mexican style of Arroyo.
