Japan’s Shigeoka brothers, Yudai and Ginjiro, will be in action on March 31, defending their respective world titles at the Nagoya International Conference Hall in the city of Nagoya, capital of Hyogo province, Japan, in a card that will be organized by Kameda Promotions.
The older brother and unbeaten southpaw Yudai Shigeoka 8-0, 5KOs, aged twenty-six, is the straw king of the World Boxing Council, and will face the #6 ranked and former world champion, Filipino Melvin “Gringo” Jerusalem 21-3, 12KOs, 29 years old, trying to make the first defense of his crown.
Shigeoka won the WBC interim crown by defeating Puerto Rican Wilfredo “Bimbito” Méndez by KO in the seventh round. He then fought Absolute Champion Panya Pradabsri, defeating him by unanimous decision.
Younger brother and also undefeated southpaw Ginjiro Shigeoka will defend his IBF straw crown against Filipino Jake Amparo.
This Saturday, both fighters passed the official weigh-in without problems, showing that they are in tip top condition.
Yudai Shigeoka checked in at 105 pounds, while Melvin Jerusalem was spot on at 104 pounds.
The Shigeoka brothers’ fights will be broadcast live on Abema TV.
