It was a tremendous pleasure to award a Heroes for Humanity Medal and certificate to Adan Gonzalez last week.
Adan Gonzalez is the Director of Puede Network in Dallas Texas. It was formed to support the youth in a low income part of the city, known for its high crime rate, school dropout numbers, and being a food desert.
Almost 300 kids are registered in the program and are required to follow the guidelines of the group – keep their grades up, participate in community service and attend leadership classes.
About 5,000 families in the area have received food support from Puede, especially fresh produce – something that has been very difficult to obtain in the neighborhood.
Adan grew up in this same neighborhood, but with very supportive parents who taught him that he could reach any goal he set.
After graduating high school, he received his bachelor’s degree from Georgetown University in Washington, D.C., followed by a master’s from Harvard, then a second master’s in education from Columbia University.
He now dedicates his time to helping these kids work toward their goals and learning that there are no limits for them!
