“King” Callum Walsh (7-0, 6 KOs), from Cork, Ireland, will make the first defense of his World Boxing Council USA Super Welterweight silver title against Juan José Velasco (24-4-0, 15 KOs), from Buenos Aires, on Saturday, August 26 at the Commerce Casino in Los Angeles, CA and broadcast globally on UFC FIGHT PASS.
Walsh’s original opponent, Livan Navarro, suffered a training injury and had to withdraw from the title fight.
The experienced Velasco has fought numerous world champions and top contenders including Regis Prograis, Zachary Ochoa, Elvis Rodríguez and Mario Barrios.
The Argentine looks to get back into the win column against Walsh following a hotly contested split decision loss against Flavius Blea on May 5, 2023 in Mioveni, Romania.
“While it was unfortunate that Livan Navarro was injured, Juan José Velasco presents another very difficult challenge for Callum Walsh,” said Tom Loeffler. “We have more exciting fights to announce for this outstanding card on August 26 at the Commerce Casino and broadcast on UFC FIGHT PASS. Tickets for this event are selling fast and I strongly encourage fans to purchase tickets in advance to secure entry to fight night.”
Trained by Hall of Famer Freddie Roach at the famed Wild Card Boxing Gym in Hollywood, CA, the 22-year-old southpaw Walsh won the USA Silver super welterweight title in front of a ticketed Commerce Casino crowd sold out on June 9, 2023.
The event is presented by Tom Loeffler’s 360 Promotions as part of its acclaimed Hollywood Fight Nights events. The remaining tickets priced at $200, $150, $100, $80 and $60 can be purchased online through the 360 Promotions website.
