Heavy hitting former world champion Jaime Munguía (41-0, 32 KOs) and Ukrainian master blaster contender Sergiy “The Technician” Derevyanchenko (14-4, 10 KOs) will clash for the World Boxing Council super middleweight Silver title this Saturday, June 10 at the Toyota Arena, Ontario, California.
Munguía will have one of the most intriguing challenges of his career, against Ukrainian Sergiy Derevyanchenko, who must win to gain another title opportunity. Last chance looming?
Jaime, 26 years old and undefeated in 41 fights, of which he has won 33 by knockout, has been looking for a world title opportunity since 2020, which has not materialized so far. He has recently defeated Gary O’Sullivan, Tureano Johnson, Kamil Szeremeta, Gabriel Rosado, D’Mitrius Ballard, Jimmy Kelly and Gonzalo Coria.
Derevyanchenko has fought with big names at 160 pounds, applying a lot of dedication in his boxing education. He has faced Daniel Jacobs, Gennady Golovkin and Jermall Charlo, and although he lost in all of them, they were swatting/swotting barnstormers!
They both looked mighty fine at the official weigh-in. Munguía registered 167,4 pounds, while Derevyanchenko was 167,5 pounds.
The fight, which is presented by Golden Boy in association with Zanfer Boxing, will stream live on DAZN and ESPN KNOCKOUT
