On April 17, 2023, world champion fighter and savvy business mogel, Saúl “Canelo” Álvarez, launched his own nutrition brand, Yaoca Brands. The brand prides itself on being a 100% Mexican brand that promotes Mexican courage and pride that caters to hardworking individuals who strive to give their best in everything that they do, much like the brand’s co-founder, Canelo. With hard work comes strength, which is where the brand’s name comes from; Yaoca comes from the word Yaocalli, which means strength in the language Nahuatl. The brand believes that will, perseverance, and determination lead to achieving a ‘10’ in all aspects of life, which it ties to the 10 ions that are used in the Yaoca energy drink– zinc, potassium, calcium, sulfate, magnesium, sodium, chloride, gluconate, citrate, and lactate. Although most of the attention that Yaoca Brands receives is regarding its energy drink, the company also offers an array of proteins, creatines, and shakers. The company offers pre-workout and weight gainer, as well as whey proteins and vegan proteins in drink form and powder form. Amongst all of this, the brand promises only high-quality, natural ingredients that will support the athletic training process.
Canelo has always shown extreme interest in investments and entrepreneurial ventures but did not show a great presence in many sponsorships in the past. Canelo early proved his ability to excel by landing himself at No. 8 on Forbes’ 2022 list of the world’s highest paid athletes. However, in comparison to most of the other athletes in the top 10 spots of this list, Canelo has received most of his earnings from his time in the ring, not outside of it.
The highly acclaimed boxer has used what he is known for, intense training and dedication, to promote Yaoca and continue to drive himself as an accomplished businessman. We cannot wait to see what else Canelo accomplishes, not only inside the ring, but also outside of it.
