The magnificent WBC commemorative belt will forever be proudly possessed by the winner of Saúl “Canelo” Álvarez Vs plucky, gutsy Brit John Ryder.
This priceless masterpiece was created by the brilliant artisans of the Talavera de la Reyna workshop.
In the process, two of the most important craft techniques in the State of Puebla are used: Talavera and embroidery.
The embroidery was product of Rosa Parrilla, an artisan from Puebla. In this belt she represents the rugged Tequila volcano of Jalisco, the Popocatépetl and the China Poblana, with finely and meticulously woven cotton threads.
In addition, cultural elements, and symbols from the state of Jalisco were incorporated. Primarily, the Charreria and the Agave plan.
The talavera material frames the shield on the belt with the traditional feathering and gorgeously painted image of two Angels that support the Cathedral of Puebla.
The talavera has been recognized by UNESCO as Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity in addition to having the Denomination of Origin that guarantees this artisan process and of great identity value.
The Talavera de la Reyna workshop has been in charge of rescuing, valuing and preserving the original process that dates from the end of the 16th century in Mexico, the 14th century in Spain and the 9th century in Baghdad, bringing it to its present reinvigorated zenith, without losing a jot of tradition. A fitting tribute, which neatly fits around the waist.
