Saúl “Canelo” Álvarez returns to Mexico on May 6 to defend his super middleweight world titles against John Ryder, at the Akron Stadium in Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico.
Canelo hasn’t fought in his country since 2011 so it will be a raucous atmosphere at the Estadio Akron in Guadalajara, and now we know which fights will take place on the undercard before Alvarez’s anticipated homecoming.
Another world championship will be on the line as Julio Cesar Martinez defends his WBC flyweight title against Panama’s Ronal Batista. Martinez is going for five consecutives successful defenses of the title he won in Dec. 2019. Additionally Gabriel Gollaz Valenzuela faces Steve Spark.
Unsurprisingly, Mexican fighters are represented the most on the Guadalajara-based card, with nine domestic fighters scheduled to compete.
