Benavidez vs. Plant commemorate the bicentennial of Mexico-USA diplomatic relations

The WBC is thankful to TGB promotions to add this magnificent event as part of the Bicentennial diplomatic relations between Mexico and USA. The WBC and the embassy of the USA outlined a collaboration program to celebrate this anniversary through boxing.

Two outstanding super- middleweights of the moment will clash, namely David Benavidez (26-0, 23 KOs) and Caleb Plant (22-1, 13 KOs) collide in a power-punching extravaganza.

This event is part of the celebrations of the 200th anniversary of relations between Mexico and the United States, representing the multiple connections that both nations share.

Through this exciting fight, we celebrate the kinship between the people of these two great nations, presenting an opportunity to pay tribute to the past and seize new opportunities to shape our shared futures.

Benavidez and Plant will step into the ring at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas on March 25 with  the interim WBC title at stake, with the winner becoming The WBC mandatory of the division.

Benavidez comes from winning his last fight at the Gila River Arena, against David Lemieux, by technical knockout in the third round.

Plant, after losing to Canelo in 2021, re-blossomed by an impressive victory against former world champion Anthony Dirrell via a one punch KO in the ninth.
