At the traditional “Coffee Tuesdays” Patricia Trejo presented her Guinness Record as the eldest boxer, a recognition that she waited for more than 5 years and which she sees as a world championship because it represents a job and a goal accomplished.
Patricia, who started boxing at the age of 50, had to overcome many obstacles and especially prejudices, since many people tried to convince her that at her age it was impossible for her to venture into this sport.
They told her about the risks and how difficult it was to make space in a world of men but more so at her age; However, Paty did not give up and along the way, people were also found who joined this dream.
Patricia gave a very special thank you to the President of the WBC, Mauricio Sulaimán, since he was a key player in getting this recognition into her hands.
“I feel deeply grateful to everyone who helped me get here, I am a woman who started boxing late but I owe a lot to this sport and I want to return everything she has given me as much as she can.
“For me, being above the ring is life and freedom, it is feeling invincible and for this reason I want my story to inspire other women my age, to know that everyone, regardless of how old we are, can make our dreams come true.
