Madison Square Garden in New York will once again host an historic card, when Amanda Serrano, from Puerto Rico, the unified 126-pound champion, fights the champion of the WBA, the Mexican Érika Cruz, this Saturday, February 4, 2023.
It writes another glorious chapter of the intensely competitive rivalry between Puerto Rico and Mexico.
Serrano (43-2-1, 30 KOs) most recently fought in September when she defeated previously unbeaten world champion Sarah Mahfoud of Denmark by unanimous decision.
Cruz won the WBA belt in April 2021, when she defeated former two-division world champion Jelena Mrdjenovich of Canada by technical decision in New York.
In another big bout, WBC super featherweight champion Alycia Baumgardner will attempt to become the undisputed 130-pound champion when she takes on Elhem Mekhaled.
At the end of 2021, Baumgardner conquered the WBC crown by defeating Terri Haper. She made a successful defense against Argentina’s Edith Soledad Matthysse and then faced Mikaela Mayer in a war.
The four main fighters of this card were face to face at the final pressing engagement
This slugfest but also stylistic extravaganza presented by Matchroom Boxing is at the Hulu theater, located in Madison Square Garden and will be broadcast live on the DAZN app.
