Day two #WBC60 in Acapulco

New WBC Continental Americas super welter champion Serghii Bohachuk came along with his Green and Gold belt to say thank you for the support and confidence. He had lost the title fighting, when still suffering the lingering after effects of Covid. But is now back to full strength and power, and he’s won it back.

The Governors  have voted to include Conexion Facil 2.0, which is a data base Ap, for the champion and first fifteen ranked fighters. It coordinates their medical data. This is breaking new ground. The company is run by Andrew Kruger who coordinated the presentation. It also helps with a graduated weight management program.

This system will help the work of William Boodhoo who tirelessly seeks and follows up all the medical requirements and stipulations fighter must provide for their own good and well being. William was awarded a medal for all the hard work he does 24/7.

Dr Eunice Rendon gave a presentation entitled not throwing in the towel about inmates of prisons in the State of Mexico, knuckling down and changing their lives via boxing training.

This dynamic has significantly reduced drug use and former inmates have come back to help others as trainers. Nine years of success for this innovative program, which has the theme of forgiveness and redemption steering away from crime and  punishment.

Jane Ramos who runs the Nevada Community Foundation, recommends, guides and administers funds to ex  boxers who have fallen on hard times. Totally independent of the WBC, it manages the funds the WBC raises and provides. This all started with the Hublot Watches auction which boosted the Jose Sulaiman Boxers Fund.

Then the power of women in boxing panel which discussed the two minute round for women boxers, and the still woeful pay disparity with their male counterparts.

A fourth WBC women’s convention is being planned and the possible location is Queretaro.

Don Majeski, who is a boxing legend and a doyen of info and participation in so many aspects of our sport recently underwent heart bypass surgery.
He’s back somewhat slimmer but just as engaging, passionate and eloquent. He was awarded a Lifetime Achievement Award by the WBC and made a point of shaking each and every Governor’s hand.

Fashion designer Primo Imperatore presented a boxed clothes collection to Jeff Fenech, Rosendo Alvarez, Nonito Donaire and Roberto. So smart for those who have left opponents smarting!
