The WBC aims to diffuse and remove the venom and bile from weigh ins and stare downs, some of which are spilling over from tension and transforming into tangible outright and downright confrontation.
At World Boxing Convention 60 at the Palacio Mundo Imperial Hotel in Acapulco President Mauricio Sulaiman said: “It certainly is a problem because it goes against the Code of Ethics. So we are inviting Promoters, managers, trainers and especially boxers to show respect and abide by fair play, because this could turn into a very dangerous situation.
“In reality, this is not what boxing is all about and we are going to continue to strive for fair play.”
A study is already underway and the options for common sense amendments will be discussed by the WBC Convention with a view to practical recommendations, which will be determined during the next several days.
