Roman “Chocolatito” Gonzalez surprises trainer Marcos Caballero with WBC trainer’s belt

Roman “Chocolatito” Gonzalez (51-3, 41 KOs) had one request Saturday night after his Unanimous Decision win against Julio Cesar “Rey” Martinez, (18-2, 14 KOs). Gonzalez wanted to honor his trainer, Marcos Caballero, with a WBC Trainer’s Belt before he goes back to his country, Nicaragua.

WBC President, Mauricio Sulaiman, moved fast on this request and brought the belt himself to Los Angeles so Gonzalez’ wish could be fulfilled. Roman Gonzalez and Team Chocolatito made their way from Coachella, CA to the WBC Headquarters in Torrance, CA Wednesday afternoon to surprise Coach Caballero.

The moment “Chocolatito” walked into the office with the WBC Champion Trainer’s belt, Caballero looked surprised and teary-eyed. It was definitely a beautiful moment where Roman got the opportunity to honor his trainer.

Also present in the WBC USA office was Ring Magazine’s Editor-In-Chief, Dougie Fischer who presented Roman “Chocolatito” Gonzalez with the 2020 Comeback Of The Year Award. Due to the pandemic, Fischer was unable to present Gonzalez with this award until now!

Later that day, Roman Gonzalez made his way down the street to The Rock Boxing Gym in Carson, CA where he surprised Amateur Boxers in the community. Gonzalez walked into the gym, all the kids looked shocked to have the living legend in their gym.  Chocolatito got a chance to speak to the kids, watch them spar and of course take photos with him.
